There is a twitter party for #SonofaPitch tomorrow hosted by Katie Hamstead Teller. There are a few reputable small publishers that will be perusing the feed, but I don’t think agents will be attending. However, tweet regardless (only once per hour per manuscript) because you never know who’ll show up to favorite your pitch. With that said, remember to ALWAYS research before submitting your book baby. Just because you get a favorite, doesn’t mean you have to send.
The site says the contest goes all day, but Katie mentions not monitoring early tweets because it’ll be 5am where she’s at. I’m not sure what that means about the start time though. But, it you plan on pitching, be sure to include the hashtag #SonofaPitch, the genre, and age category. As always, good luck!
Chat time! A group of science fiction and fantasy authors from HARPER Voyager have agreed to chat on twitter today (February 23, 1017) using the hashtag #SFFChat. The mingling will be between 3pm and 8pm EST.
They encourage everyone to participate, writer or not. While I’m sure they’ll talk about books they’ve written (who wouldn’t), they’ll also be discussing querying, world building, character creation, writing a page turner, book promo, and marketing! So join in the fun and get your questions ready!
And always remember, if you can’t make the timeframe, you can always peruse the hashtag later to see the Q&A that took place. You might find a nugget of information.
In order to submit, prepare a 140 character pitch including #PitchCB hashtag for your completed manuscript. The window will be open for 24 hours and remember to only pitch once! If your pitch is “liked”, submit directly to that agent following the agencies’ submission guidelines.
It’s time for another picture book twitter party using #PBPitch! So, if you write or illustrate picture books, this is the event for you. This party will take place Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 8am-8pm EST. But remember, anyone can trawl the feed, so be sure and do your research! This fantastic blog was created by agent Jessica Sinsheimer for agents (and some editors) to let writer’s know what they’d like to see in their inbox. Yes, it’s that simple! So, before you decide to query that shiny new manuscript, check out the website to see if any agents would be a perfect fit. Even more exciting, they’ve created a sign-up for upcoming newsletters!
So when will the next one take place? On February 8th, 2017, tweeting of wishes will unfold on twitter using the hashtag #MSWL. But remember, this IS NOT for direct pitching. Please make a list of agents and/or editors stating your MS might be what they’re looking for. Then send queries as directed by the agent/editor. (If you have trouble locating the information, most can be found on the agency/publisher websites.

It’s that time of year again for science fiction and fantasy writers to polish their pitches for Dan Koboldt’s #SFFpit writing contest on twitter! It starts tomorrow December 8, 2016 between 8am-6pm EST. This contest allows 10 pitches total and Dan asks that you use them wisely! As usual, it needs to be a 140 character pitch for twitter and includes the hashtag #SFFpit. For all the rules, including how to properly insert the age group and category, go here. Send Sarah Baker an email with your 5 x 7″ or 7 x 5″ image (as an attachment, not in the body of the email) and your name. Each submission must be sent in a separate email. If you are on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, include your social media handles in the email below your name.
Submissions must be high res (300dpi) jpegs. Title the file with your first and last name, i.e. SnowWhite.jpg (If you submit more than one, title them SnowWhite1.jpg, SnowWhite2.jpg, etc.) All submissions must be received by December 1, 2016.
