#PBPitch is Tomorrow!

It’s time for another picture book twitter party using the hashtag #PBPitch! So, if you write or illustrate picture books, this is the event for you. This party will take place Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 8am-8pm EST. But remember, anyone can trawl the feed, so be sure and do your research! There will be legit agents and editors popping in and out, including those that haven’t confirmed attendance. But those that have confirmed are:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving is a designated time to remember what we are thankful for in life. For many, it’s having our health to spend time with family and friends while gorging on amazing meals until our stomach feels like it will explode. But there are others who might be joyful they survived a fatal illness to be here celebrating with people they love. Or maybe, there are those thrilled to still have a job, maybe paid off a mortgage, or even happy because they got that iPhone they’ve always wanted.

As for me, I’d like to thank:

My family and friends who’ve supported me with my writing. (And a special shoutout to Keith and Chris for donating on my GoFundMe page!)
My daughter and grandson for bringing me joy in my life with their adventurous spirit.
My readers. (Because without y’all, I’d have no reason to have a blog!)
All my critique partners, beta readers, and anyone who has ever glanced at a few pitches/pages/chapters and offered feedback (I LOVE you guys!).
Contest hosts for supplying fabulous opportunities with agents and mentoring, and for those who selected me at some point in the past, for one thing or another. (For example: Brenda Drake, Authoress, Michelle Hauck, Samantha Fountain, and Jessa Russo.)
The mentors that participated in contests. Your feedback was completely awesome!

Heidi Norrod’s #KidPit on Twitter

Heidi Norrod is hosting another fabulous twitter pitch event for writers called KidPit. In order to participate, authors need to have a finished manuscript and tweet their 140 character pitch using the hashtag #KidPit on November 9. 2016. The contest will be between 9am-3pm CST (Chicago time). You will allowed to pitch six times over the course of the event. I’d suggest once every hour, as the event is six hours long.

This event is open to BOARD BOOKS, PICTURE BOOKS, EASY READER/CHAPTER BOOKS, MIDDLE GRADE, and/or YOUNG ADULT COMPLETED novel, fiction and non-fiction books. When typing your pitch, be sure to include either #BB (Board Book), #PB (Picture Books), #CB (Chapter Books and Early Readers), #MG (Middle Grade), or #YA (Young Adult) and tag with the genre. And don’t forget to add the hashtag #KidPit so it will show up in the feed.

Also, I’d like to remind everyone that twitter pitch parties are open to everyone, meaning anyone can trawl the feed! Be sure to research before you send any submissions from a favored pitch. As always, good luck!

Pitch Slam Contest

Pitch Slam is a great contest where writers can find agents for their manuscript. For this game the theme is Star Wars. Oh what Fun! During this event, there will be a mini critique available before the agent round. What do I mean by mini? Well, let me tell you writerly friends! You’ll have an opportunity to have your 35 word pitch and first 250 words honed (in order to be eye catching) before they go live for agents to make their selections. Below is a calendar of the events.

The Colorado Writing Workshop is a special one-day “How to Get Published” writing workshop on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Denver-Thornton. In other words, it’s one day full of classes and advice designed to give you the best instruction concerning how to get your writing & books published. They’ll discuss your publishing opportunities today, how to write queries & pitches, how to market yourself and your books, what makes an agent/editor stop reading your manuscript, and more. No matter what you’re writing — fiction or nonfiction — the day’s classes will help point you in the right direction. And of course, their are pitch and critique opportunities!

#PitMad on Twitter Tomorrow

Tomorrow is #PitMad on twitter hosted by Brenda Drake. So get your 140 character pitches ready including the genre and age group. And if you haven’t participated in a #PitMad event in awhile, make note to the new rules. You can only pitch three times per manuscript during the entire event. Also, don’t forget to thoroughly investigate the agents and editors that favorite you pitch because anyone can hop onboard. Make sure they are legitimate! Don’t forget the quarterly pitch event with Brenda Drake is tomorrow Thursday, September 10, 2015 on twitter under the hashtag #PitMad. If you are new to the game of writing, this is where you create a 140 character pitch for your FINISHED manuscript and tweet for agents to read. Things to remember:

Pitch submission time is 8am-8pm EDT (New York time)
You must fit the hashtag of #Pitmad within the 140 characters.
Include the category hashtag (#YA, #MG, #A, #NA, #PB, and #NF)
Include the genre hashtag (Ex: #PR for paranormal romance or #M for mystery)
Change tweets up. (Twitter will remove identical ones thinking they are spam.)
DON’T FAVORITE TWEETS! This is for agents or editors only. (If you want to support a friend, do it by retweeting.)
If you won’t be available this day, schedule tweets using Tweetdeck.
Only tweet once per thirty minutes so you don’t congest the feed.
Don’t tweet agents and editors directly unless they tweet you first, or openly state it’s okay to tweet them direct.
Scammers can’t be controlled on an open pitch party. DO YOUR HOMEWORK before you submit from a favorite. You can check against Preditors & Editors, Publishers Marketplace, or Absolute Write Forums.

Don’t Forget #Pitmad Is Tomorrow!

As always, I want to give a shout-out to remind everyone of a fabulous contest. Don’t forget that #Pitmad (hosted by Brenda Drake) will be live tomorrow (June 4th) on twitter from 8am to 8pm EST (New York time).

Get your 140 character pitch ready to capture an agent’s or editor’s attention. (This is for completed manuscripts only!) Be sure to include the hashtag #pitmad and the category (#YA, #MG, #A, #NA, #PB, and #NF). Vary your pitches so twitter won’t delete duplicates thinking they’re spam. And if you are super crafty, you can squeeze your genre hashtag into the tweet!

All the guidelines are on Brenda’s blog here. Be sure to follow her rules so you don’t get a polite reprimand from Brenda. She’ll be watching…mwah-ha-ha!
