Authoress (aka Jillian Boehme) is hosting a round of Secret Agent on her popular Miss Snark’s First Victim site. If you’ve followed Authoress for several years, then you know that she unveiled herself because she got her first book deal, which is out in the world to read now! (And this was her one condition she had promised herself before unveiling her true identity.) And many of us are so excited for her because she has given back to the community for so-so-so long! (Thank you Jillian!)

Now, for a few basic details of the contest:

  • Submissions open between Noon to 6pm EDT, August 24, 2020
  • This is a lottery. The BOT will draw 50 random names.
  • Only the First 250 words will be submitted.
  • Only completed and polished manuscripts may be entered.
  • Only ONE entry per person!

As always, there is no fee to enter the contest. This month’s contest will include the following genres only:

ADULT

  • High-concept women’s fiction (NO genre fiction-high fantasy, romance, etc.)
YA
  • Fantasy
  • Narrative Nonfiction
  • Historical Fiction
  • Epistolary
MG
  • Fantasy
  • Narative Nonfiction

I’m pleased to announce that the author many of us have admired, Jillian Boehme, has her debut novel released today…STORMRISE! Jillian kept her identity secret for many years, pledging she’d only reveal herself when she got a book deal. Miss Snark’s Secret Agent Contest

Just a quick reminder that @AuthoressAnon is hosting her Secret Agent Contest tomorrow, Monday, April 3, 2017. She is the genius behind Miss Snark’s First Victim blog, which often hosts critique events and contests to help gain a literary agent.

The submission window will be open from noon to 6pm EDT. The BOT will randomly select 50 entrants with 2 alternates. To enter, you’ll need the first 250 words from you polished and completed manuscript. (No unfinished stories, please!) This months accepted genres will be:

  • Romance (YA, NA, Adult)
  • Thriller (YA, NA, Adult)
  • Contemporary (YA, NA, Adult)
  • Time Travel (YA, NA, Adult)
  • Suspense (YA, NA, Adult)

ON THE BLOCK CONTEST

Oh I just love literary contests that help writers sign with agents. Don’t you? Here is another great one hosted by Authoress on her blog Miss Snark’s First Victim. The contest is called ON THE BLOCK and submissions open September 8, 2016 from 8am-10pm (EDT). That’s next week peeps!

This is for polished and completed manuscripts only. Please know there is an entry fee of $21 (US) payable via Paypal. (A lot of work goes into these contests!) The contest will cap at 250 submissions, so don’t delay when the window opens. Out of those subs, only 20 entries will be chosen for the agent round. Authoress is accepting middle grade, young adult, new adult and adult fiction manuscripts only. (Sorry, no picture books, poetry, and narrative non-fiction.) Be sure to go to Miss Snark’s First Victim to find the participating agents and submission guidelines.

This post is to remind you that the submission window opens tomorrow for the 2014 Baker’s Dozen Agent Auction. This contest is hosted by Authoress on her blog Miss Snark’s First Victim. Here are some important dates to know:

SUBMISSIONS:

October 28: Adult fiction (no erotica), 9am-5pm EDT (100 max)
October 30: Adult fiction (no erotica) , 9am-5pm EDT (100 max)
(Note: NA is included with the adult rounds and should be labeled as such.)

November 4: YA/MG fiction (all genres), 9am-5pm EDT (150 max)
November 6: YA/MG fiction (all genres), 9am-5pm EDT (150 max)

November 14: Adult winners will be notified via via email (25 total)

November 21: YA/MG winners will be notified via email (35 total)

November 28: The 60 winners will be posted on Authoress’ blog
December 2: Agents begin placing bids at 11am EDT (Auction closes 11pm)

December 4:  Winners announced
