McIntosh & Otis, Inc. is looking for a remote intern for the adult department. This is unpaid and the candidate must be enrolled as a student. They would like an intern to work 12-18 hours per week and to commit to a 3-month term, but they’ll work with the interns schedule. The agency will also work with students to possibly receive academic credit.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled as a student
  • Voracious reader
  • Strong writer
  • Keen editorial eye
  • Interested in in adult fiction and non-fiction
  • Detail-oriented, with office skills as a plus
  • Enthusiastic

McIntosh & Otis, Inc. is looking for an intern for the children’s department (picture book, middle grade, and young adult literature). The internship is unpaid and must be enrolled as a student. They would like an intern to work 12-18 hours per week and to commit to a 4-month term, but they’ll work with the interns schedule. The agency will also work with students to possibly receive academic credit.

  • Interested in children’s literature and familiarity with current trends in picture books through YA
  • Detail-oriented, with office skills as a plus
  • Enthusiastic

Internship 2020: DYSTEL,GODERICH & BOURRET LLC

Dystel, Goderich & Bourret is looking for organized, reliable, efficient individuals to be interns and are interested in learning about the publishing industry. Candidates should be committed to devoting 15-20 hours per week in-house (New York). Applicants should be interested in learning the specifics of agenting, open to reading widely, and are detail-oriented, organized, and have critical reading and research skills.

Intern Responsibilities:
• Assist with reading slush, partial, and full manuscripts.
• Request and evaluate manuscripts.
• Write readers reports.
• Assist with contracts, royalty statements, and author correspondence as needed.
• Administrative duties, including but not limited to research, copyediting, filing, scanning, answering phones, data entry.

This will be for one semester from January until mid-May 2020 and is unpaid. Requirements:
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Detail-oriented & organized
• Well-read across different genres
• Basic computer skills
• Availability 2-3 days a week
