Delaware Division of the Arts Individual Artists Fellowships. Deadline Approaching

Delaware Division of the Arts Individual Artist Fellowships (FY 2022) is a competitive award based on quality as demonstrated by creativity and skill in an art form. Applications are accepted in eighteen artistic disciplines in the fields of choreography, folk art, jazz, literature, media arts, music, and visual arts. Applicants can be emerging or established artists. (I think these are one year.) The Masters Fellowship is available in select disciplines on a three-year rotating basis to artists who meet specific criteria.

Judges are anonymous. Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation assists with the administration of the program. Awards are $3,000 for Emerging; $6,000 for Established; and $10,000 for Masters. Deadline to submit is August 1, 2021. Artists MUST have been a resident of Delaware one year prior to submission, and has to remain a resident of Delaware during the entire fellowship. Little, Brown Emerging Artist Award

Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will be closing submissions for their Emerging Artist Award on June 7, 2019. The goal is to develop high quality children’s picture books that resonate with readers of diverse backgrounds. So if you haven’t completed your mock up to send, get it done, ASAP! The award includes:

  • American Express® gift cards totaling $1,500
  • Round-trip travel for the winner to New York City
  • A day at LBYR’s offices in New York
  • Lunch with an editor, an art director, and the Artist Mentor.
  • An in-person portfolio review by the Artist Mentor and the LBYR publishing staff.
  • A tour of the office
  • Opportunity for the winning submission to be reviewed by LBYR’s editorial team for possible future publication.

Deadline Approaching for Futurescapes Writing Contest

Futurescapes is seeking short stories set in a near-future city where significant strides have been made toward improving air quality, climate adaptation, or even net positive impacts on climate and air quality. Thus, their theme for 2017 is “Blue Sky Cities.”

Here’s a breakdown of the important stuff:

  • You’ll need a work of short fiction up to 8,000 words.
  • No fee to enter for first entry, but you can submit a second for a fee.
  • $2000 for first prize.
  • $500 for five runners-up.
  • Publication in an anthology.
