Pikes Peak Writers Conference

Pikes Peak Writers Conference is an opportunity to get literary advise from a professional in the business or get invaluable feedback on your manuscript. The conference will be held April 15-17, 2016 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Keynote speakers will be Kevin J. Anderson, Rachel Caine, Joe R. Lansdale, Jeff Lindsay, and Wendy Corsi Staub. Acquiring agents and editors will be Annie Berger (Harper Collins), Caitlin Dareff (St. Martin’s Press), Melissa L. Edwards (The Aaron M. Alabama Workshop

The Alabama Writing Workshop is another opportunity to learn and get critiqued from a professional. This workshop is in Birmingham, Alabama on February 19, 2016. This year’s faculty includes literary agent Kaylee Davis (Dee Mura Literary); literary agent Julie Gwinn (The Seymour Agency); literary agent Kurestin Armada (P.S. Literary); literary agent Veronica Park (Corvisiero Literary); and literary agent Lauren MacLeod (Strothman Agency).

Houston Writing Workshop

Lately, you may have noticed that I try to keep you posted on conferences as well as contests. As I learn about events, I will post them for you to decide if you want to participate. Today I bring you information about The Atlanta Writing Workshop in Georgia on February 20, 2016. If you are in the area, you could get feedback from a literary agent or gain writing advise through one of the workshops. This year’s faculty so far includes literary agent Kaylee Davis (Dee Mura Literary); literary agent Stephanie Fretwell-Hill (Red Fox Literary); literary agent Penny Moore (FinePrint Literary Management); literary agent Julie Gwinn (The Seymour Agency); literary agent Kurestin Armada (P.S. As always, the seats are limited and fill up fast, especially since it’s so close to the workshop date. They will post directly on the website when seats are filled.

2016 Houston Writing Workshop

Houston Writing Workshop

If you’re in the Houston area, this is the event for you. According to The Houston Writing Workshop site, this writing event is a wonderful opportunity to get intense instruction over the course of one day, pitch a literary agent or editor (optional), get your questions answered, and more. Note that there are limited seats at the event (100 total). There are a few seats available, but you must hurry because this Workshop is February 6, 2016. Seats will close fast!

This year’s faculty so far includes literary agent Paul S. Levine (Paul S. Levine Literary); literary agent Patricia Nelson (Marsal Lyon Literary); literary agent Eve Porinchak (Jill Corcoran Literary); literary agent Rachel Brooks (L. Perkins Agency); and literary agent Tricia Skinner (Fuse Literary).

PITCHSLAM Contest

Oh my goodness, a contest for writers to find a literary agent with a Hogwarts theme! This is pure heaven for all the Harry Potter fans. On October 21st, writers will submit a 35 word pitch and first 250 words from their completed and polished manuscripts. What’s that? Your pitch and 250 words need another looksy? Have no fear, there are critique rounds before the final submission dates. On October 17th, 150 pitches will be selected for critique. Then on October 19th, 150 entrants of the first 250 words will be selected for feedback. But don’t worry, on the 21st of October, there will be no limit for submissions into the actual contest.
